About

Ju$txt.org is an SMS enabled corruption-reporting service and data-collection platform that aims to capitalize on the rapid take-up of mobile technologies across the world in service of the fight against corruption.

We aim to aid organisations, campaigns, and governments by providing them with an effective tool to collect clean and actionable data on petty corruption.

The platform is aimed at 3 categories of users:

  1. Primary Users: Citizens reporting bribes
  2. Secondary Users: Anti-Corruption organizations using the Ju$txt platform to collect data
  3. Tertiary Users: Third party users of the aggregate data

Citizens who have experienced an incidence of petty corruption can securely and anonymously report their experience online, by smartphone app, or by SMS. A central database allows organizations to avoid duplication of efforts and benefit from each other’s work.

Good policy requires good data, and this holds especially true with regards to addressing the scourge of corruption across the world. Traditional methods of data collection on petty corruption are limited as they rely primarily on interviews and retrospective surveys, meaning that they are incredibly expensive and labor intensive to carry out. Measuring trends over time remains one of the most critical challenges facing corruption research.

Ju$txt capitalizes on the advantages of crowdsourced information while at the same time providing a truly global information common accessible to any organization wishing to utilize the data.

We are in the process of taking Ju$txt.org from the idea stage to reality, and we are always eager for feedback, advice, and whatever else you might like to throw at us. If this has piqued your interest in any way, please do get in touch: info@justxt.org
